Westbrook 34th annual Together Days is a 2-day festival that is fun for families and residents of all ages! Al Hawkes and his Bluegrass Nitehawks will perform a one hour show at 2 PM on the Main Stage. The event begins on Friday at 4 PM – 10 PM and all day on Saturday from 8 AM – 10 PM.  Saturday the event begins with a 5k    run/kid’s 1/2 mile fun run and concludes with a 30 Minute firework display.  Features two stages of continuous free entertainment. This festival typically attracts 15-20,000 people. This will be Al Hawkes 10 years of being booked by popular demand. He is sponsored by Tickets Unlimited Inc., Highland Variety Store, Martini Lane and Sappi Fine Papers.

“SAGE”  The Sage Program is part of The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Southern Maine, Portland, Maine. Held in 102 Wishcamper Center on the Portland campus at 26 Bedford Street. Al Hawkes will give an academic lecture and discussion on “Pioneering Bluegrass In America”.  He will explain and demonstrate his involvement of forty years in Bluegrass music as a recognized Bluegrass & Country Music pioneer, Songwriter, Musician, Record Producer and music Archivist with sound and video presentations and handouts. Al has agreed to play and sing a couple of his original songs that will be featured on his Maine Album due out in 2013. The Osher Institute has 1500 members. "The Bluegass Special" Featival

Al Hawkes and his Nitehawks show will be on stage on Friday, the opening day, at 3 PM with a special two hour show featuring
his new Nitehawks. It will feature a workshop with special demonstrations of musical instruments with different tunings that Al is currently using on his new CD albums. Previews of his newly composed songs about living the life in Maine CD, due out in 2012. Special guests join Al on stage to do some favorite numbers. There will be a dialogue Q/A period with Al about his 60 years of involvement in the Bluegrass music field. And a final “on-stage” jam session with guests to kick off the festival “In Hi -Gear”. You won’t want to miss this “Once in a Life Time” event.

Special Note: There will be an afternoon viewing of the documentary film: The Eventful Life of Al Hawkes.

International Bluegrass Music Museum, Owensboro, Kentucky
Al Hawkes invited to join with and perform at the “Pioneers of Bluegrass Gathering” in Owensboro, Kentucky. Shows are staged at the International Bluegrass Music Museum, RiverPark Performance Center and at the ROMP (River of Music Party) located at Yellow Creek Park. During the four days there are Exhibits, Tours, Pioneers Story Telling, Bluegrass Masters Film Festival, Hall of Fame Unveiling and Legends Concert. Al & Barbara will be flying in early on 22nd to lend a hand to Gabrielle Gray, Director of the Bluegrass Music Museum, in setting up and getting ready. The International Bluegrass Music Museum’s big annual event called ROMP which is the “River OF Music Party” featuring some of the greatest Bluegrass entertainers of the present as well as the early Pioneer entertainers. Unfortunately, Chicky's Fabulously Fine Diner has closed its doors.

Al and his Americana Trio with Al Doane and Bruce Milliard will perform for two sets starting at 8pm. There may, and probably will, be some special guest musicians joining in throughout the evening. It should create some exciting moments in Bluegrass, Country, Jazz, Hillbilly, Blues music - you name it - it will probably happen and have no official musical description. All un-plugged acoustic instruments show. It's been over a year since Al has been able to bring his show back to Chicky's. Al will be digitally recording a two hour special "Live Inside Al Hawkes - Musicaly." It's a "thru the years" type of interview about his recordings of others in his Event Records studio as well as discussing and playing his own albums. Very possibly, even a couple of numbers with his 6 string and 12 string guitars live. It is to be played a number of times over the following weeks by the new "Lakes Region" community radio station.
